Boys Will Be Boys...Even When They’re Gods
The goddess turned her hair to snakes,
the other woman, seeking revenge
for a man's “mistakes.”
The rake saw her as a thing to take,
so, she was judged a wicked wench,
so, her hair was transformed, forever into snakes.
The jury's out, seduced or raped?
Snakes for a fringe, because she was infringed
by a man's “mistakes.”
One glance from her and you are stone, never to shatter, never to break,
not you, not them, not her, trapped by views entrenched,
exiled, imprisoned, isolated, as her hair turned to snakes.
Slayed by a man, a legend, a hero, so she would never wake,
her skull severed, from her body wrenched,
all for a man's “mistakes.”
Her head presented to a goddess, the other woman, who would make
a shield, a trophy, a reminder; that if we dare allege,
if we try to hedge...our bets, our hair is turned to snakes,
all for a man's...“mistakes.”
